Worship and Praise

What is praise and worship?

Worship, according to the dictionary means: a) to show profound religious devotion; b) to have intense love and admiration; and the definition of praise is: a) to express admiration or approval for; b) to express thanks and worship to God.  In other words, praise and worship go hand in hand.

Praising and worshiping God is not about a ritual, or prayer repetition.  It’s not about spending a few minutes a day reading our bible or about reciting our wish list on a daily basis.  True worship requires total commitment of our body, mind and spirit.  It’s about exalting, adoring and acknowledging the God of the Bible.  It has nothing to do with religion, but it has everything to do with having an intimate and profound relationship with God - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Others said that when we sing praise and worship where the voice is out of tune, we are praising Him 10x. It is only mean that we don't need to have a good voice when singing praise or worship songs, only a willing heart. Worship is the highest form of prayer especially when we are simultaneously doing it. In the community of Singles for Christ, all of the gatherings held it is always included in opening and closing program. It is also a way of communicating with God, we can worship by singing, dancing, raising hand or playing instrument. In a Christian group, worship and worship is very important because it is believed that when worshiping together, the group will grow stronger and intact. Also, worship is not just for your benefit, but for God's.

What is the difference of  praise and worship?

Praise is the joyful recounting of all God has done for us. It is closely intertwined with thanksgiving as we offer back to God appreciation for His mighty works on our behalf while worship is the art of losing self in the adoration of another. In other word, praise may be fast and lively and for the worship, it may be sad songs, slow rhythm and more emotional. So, in a program proper, praise should be the first to sing followed by worship songs.

Where to worship

Worshiping and praising can be done usually in chapels, church, garden or maybe in the house when there is a household. Remember that the venue doesn't matter because God do not choose where He give the blessings.
